This is the second installment of the new Heather's Hat Style feature for Marvelous Mode Blogzine. My intention in this is to inspire women to wear fashion hats in their everyday lives. During the 1900s-50s women wore hats on a daily basis. They were considered an important part of the way a woman dressed. During the war years of the 1940s fabric shortage lead to the love of wearing the Doll Hats. They were called Doll Hats for many reasons but mostly because of their small size compared to regular sized hats. During WWII women used hats as a way to add panache to their look because dresses were more simple and colors drab. I have a love of classic film of the 1930s-40s. One of my favorite series is the "Thin Man" with William Powell and Myrna Loy.
Myrna is so beautiful and glamorous in this movie. So many references were made about her hats which kind of became a third character. This little hats inspired a new line of hats for mauvelyroses.com
The outfit I have on above, I am wearing one of the new tini style cocktail hats. This is a felt doll hat style cocktail hat in teal, camel and heather gray bow. It's so glam and yet cheeky sexy. This type of hat can be worn day to night; which coined the term day to night cocktail hats. This particular style is a cut & sew which will never loose it's shape like a blocked hat. So wear it in the rain or crush it and it will pop back out. Here I have created a modern glam jean ensemble for this fantastic hat look which cold be day to night.
- Tini Cocktail Hat Mauvely Roses
- Shredded skinny pipe jeans Machine Jeans
- Gray Embellished Tank Mauvely Roses
- Teal Wool Jacket Vintage
- Camel Colored 1996 Vintage Retro Style Oxford Siegerson Morrison
I wore my hair up in a messy ponytail that I bobby pinned ends down and up to look like a bun. Makeup is in plum colors to create a dramatic look for day to night.
In the Estore are the newest line of Day to Night Cocktails like the one above. You can dress them up or down. Fantastic to wear and add to your wardrobe. Again these are felt and cut/sew versions. Soon I will be adding blocked versions. These beauties are fun and flirty to wear click on the pic below to shop the hats.
Cheers!!!
