An Alt Woman Meets Coco Chanel Style in NYFW SS16
Well I am in heaven so far with NYFW. They have brought out a look that I can get with. I am an alt kind of lady with my own thing going on when it comes to fashion. I don't mind going off the beaten path of the proverbial mainstream! And so NYFW begins the festivities with these designers and their take on SS16.
BCBG combines a Southwestern print with a layered look ala grunge uptown girl look. Love the patchwork bucket hat. And those suede fringe platform sandals are totally awesome.
Creatures of the Wind rocked my world. I have not always liked their designs but this collection threw me for a loop in the right direction. A bit of retro rockabilly meets punk rock meets modern fashion. This combo I want from head to toe. The tomato red western rockabilly top is superb. Trouser pencil skirt yes. Long black white print 3/4 length top coat blazer is haute stuff. Make me think Bettie Page meets Blondie. The large fishnets peachy keen. All the sandals were dishy. The hair and makeup were so beyond - I am beside myself. Love the messy hair up and the heavy eyes.
Tess Giberson showed a nice small collection. The knee length skirts were a bit of Chanel and I loved it. This white creamy gold look is casual richness. The retro vest with faux fur trim is oh so cute. Very nice!
So you put all these together and you get a mixture of prints and eclectic alt style that makes my grunge heart beat. I love fashion that pushes the limits but is totally wearable and these designers did just that.
