Fall Forward in Retro is like Back to School for Women

There is so much focus on school age persons when it comes to Fall.  Fashion is forgetting that those of us who already graduated still need to be Fashionable in Fall.  These two ladies are the epitome of my thoughts on attractiveness and how powerful femininity can be.  There is so much focus right now on androgenous style.  There is a time to experiment and have fun with androgyny but then there comes a time as woman to decide to look like a woman.  Feminity is powerful.  I do not subscribe to the notion that in order for a woman to be powerful she needs to dress or act like a man.  Women need to rediscover the power in being a female.  Look at these two women, Rita Hayworth and Marlene Dietrich, they are dressed from head to toe in ultra stylish golden era Hollywood glam.  And back then alot of these starlets wore designs from Hollywood Costume Designers in their everyday looks as well as on screen.  Adrian was a fav of Marlene.

Now let's talk about those hats.  Rita is in a high fashion floral headpiece with snood back and Marlene is in a 1940s style women's fedora.  Back then Fur was acceptable but I personally would rather get a great faux fur coat for the season.  Skirt suits were sexy and worn daily.  Peep toe shoes were worn even in the cold months.  These shoes had slight platform.  Small purses were the handbag of choice not luggage like today which I am bored with.  Notice the sash cinched waists.  Hoisery was always worn, not tights.

Now for beauty.  Makeup was used but the focus was red lips.  Apple cheeks were enhanced and rouge was light on the apples.  Of course red nails and toes.  Nails were round not square.  Hair was coiffed usually professionally.  Wavy fluffy curls were the look away from the face. Hair was shoulder length or a little above.  Brows were groomed and bit thin but in natural lines.  Gloves were always worn or in the ladies purse.

Here is how to get it:
