Rock The Frock @NYFW SS16

Well today was a mile marker for one designer and an entry for new ones.  Betsey Johnson has been in the fashion industry as a designer for 50 years.  What an accomplishment.  Her designs are more relevant today than even in the past.  She goes her own way and the new ones on the block are trying to find their way.  The frocks that rocked the runway today were elegant and simple lines from flowing to bulky beauty.  These choices caught my eye because they are saying something about how to wear clothing that is not fashion but great style.

Betsey Johnson has been a designer who has throughout her career defined the times.  She rocks to the beat of her own design tune.  She lives the life and knows how to translate that into designs for women to live their lives in.  Her style has always vied toward the rocker and dancer in every woman.  I had the pleasure of working for Betsey from 2004- 2006 in Los Angeles.  Being a Betsey Girl was being apart of her family.  Since then she put to bed her old company and re-invented herself into a modern woman all in her 60s and now 70s.  She is the real deal.  This dress is a true punk rock Betsey Dress.  Body fitting with stripes.  Love the fingerless black and white gloves.  The choker is the right accessory.  The heavy makeup and beehive are so awesome.  Black sheer hose and the black pumps set off the look.

Ohne Titel this duo is becoming a nice appearance at NYFW.  They have a nice way of displaying color in a simple but fresh way.  Love the below knee flowing skirt.  The top is smoking.  A bit of rockabilly 1970s cape look.  Love the pop of color dark blue against the black.

Ryan Roche is new to me and the color palette was stunning.  The peachy color is so sensuous in an unassuming way.  I see a bit of a Pheobe Philo affect in this collection which for me is fantastic.  A bit of early 19th Century Chanel silhouette too.  Such an interesting look.

Wes Gordon  went with light fabrics that casually envelope and move with the body.  That starts with great cut which not all designers get.  Wear ability sometimes seems like a dirty word but it's important to the customer!!!  Wes did a great job with this collection.  Love the gray and rich yellow plaid print.  Silk was a nice choice for the fabric in a cas elegant way.  Love the lace at the end of the garment that really adds a nice light touch of sexy.

So there you have it for day two.  So far New York is in the groove.  Keep on with this vibe!
