Bringing Beautiful Back to NYFW AW15

So many season since the millennium, designers have focused on the girlie show.  Finally, it's out and sexy youthful but grownup is in!  And this does not mean frumpy or old - good lord no, it means getting to dress the way you wanted to as a little girl.  Pretty is on the out and beauty is back in too.  So what is the difference you may ask?  Well girls are pretty but women are beautiful!   Coco Chanel once said, "A woman isn't interesting till she is over 40!"  And think about all the Gen X's women Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Anniston, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington just to name a few who are over 40s and look better and sexier than ever.  Well these looks for today are just that interesting and sexy.  Clockwise:

Badgley Mischka - This duo has been a team of formal wear designers for quite some time.  This collection I found to be refreshing as they are bringing in upscale ready to wear with the formal.  This darling plaid dress caught my Scottish Heart.  The neckline is a beautiful open V neck that is softly sexy.  The zipper faux pockets on front hip line give it a mod feel.  The cap sleeves create a more cocktail look but put a turtle neck under this and there you go day to night!  Those lace tights are a must ladies (think Audrey Hepburn in "How to Steal A Million").  The black front lace up sandals the perfect elegant sensual shoe.

Reem Acra -  Again this designer is usually very formal wear but there were allot of dresses that could be dressy day to night.  This dress just took my breath away.  The relaxed sort of deco retro modern style and a bit 1970s in a sequin fabric with chiffon hemline is a great new look.  This type of dress is a no fail safe look for almost any time.  I love this low v-neck that is soft with a elbow length cocoon sleeves.  Again like previous we see a gun metal front lace up sandal sans hosiery.  A jazzy little number is a big hit.

Vera Wang - Vera has been doing a more junior wear look the past few years in her ready to wear.  This collection took me by surprise with more mature youthful still approach.  This dress is so simple yet daring.  The black is a bit Audrey Hepburn with a open top line and heart insert that is divine.  The lace up herringbone trim up the front middle creates an interesting detail and breaks up the black using black.  The crazy looking white soled boots work for the runway but not real way.  A gotta have look.

Now on with the headwear.  Finally a designer who really gets the importance of fancy ready to wear headwear.  Thom Browne has been showing at NYFW for just a few seasons and his progressive full of personality looks have been a great addition to Fashion Week in New York.  His collaboration with London Milliner Stephen Jones has made the showing all the more relevant.  American women want to wear hats but so many New York designers do not embrace it as part of the overall look.  They tend to create something that is only for the runway.  But Sir Stephen being from the Hat Capital knows how to create a heapiece or hat that makes a point while accenting the designers look.  A woman is truly taken more seriously when she wears a beautiful hat.  This AW15 Collection for Thom Browne is sumptuous noir from head to toe.  I see a bit of an Edwardian touch that is turned into a new line.  The separates with hip line or to knee jackets are so couture meets the ready to wear woman.  The black hosiery and boots add a mysterious factor to this line.  Brilliant textures accent and break up the blacks.  Black leather gloves that are shortened to the thumb line add to the noir factor.  The hats Sir Stephen are brilliant!  Whether that are sculptured headpieces of feather to head sculpted hats with veiling these are such fancy finery and important for a woman's wardrobe in the 21st Century.

So ladies get on with it and wear it with passion!

Cheers,
