The last day has arrived ladies and gents for Spring Summer 2015 Haute Couture Week in Paris, France. It has been quite a journey through the wonderful world of handmade frocks and headwear. Please keep in mind that no machine stitching is used on these garments: it is all hand sewn. That is a feet to do. The appliques & laces are hand finished too. I am wowed by the looks for SS15. Couture is finally getting a foot hold into the wearable artistic side of dressing. For so long couture started to look bland or avant garde. Now the time has arrived for Haute Couture to come into the 21st Century.
The four looks I am highlighting today are featuring classic colors in a myriad of fabulousness cuts and design. New blood is taking the couture world over and I am glad to see it.
Loris Azzaro - This has my name written all over it (Heather Sonrisa) if they would like to send it to me. This black loosely cut dress with a long cape is far out. It has a hint of YSL to it. The golden tassel scarf necklace is posh spot on! The Asymmetrical cut on the hem and on shoulder is sexiness grown up. These heels finish off the look perfectly! Not a big fan of above knee but they did it right!
Ralph & Russo - This duo is quickly becoming a fav of my. They know how to grow up a girlie look and cut it for a woman. This floral applique T-Length dress is Retrorific! The slit up middle revealing a white underskirt is so Marie Antoinette. The bright blue against the black gives a brilliant Pop of color look. Sweet but sexy.
Serkan Cura - A bit of a nod to the Brilliant Alexander McQueen in this collection. Corset tops have been popular throughout collections for SS15. This beautiful noir black corset dress is Marvelous. Love the usage of feathers with the popular slit front skirt. The see through up the skirt on each side is daring but not trashy - thank God! The Black Booties so modern.
Stephanie Coudert - Is a new Couturier to watch. She married wearable couture beautifully. Her touches of flare & cut in simple looks won me over. The simple color palette refreshing. This particular pant & top look in a fluid fabric is a lovely look. The ecru, black & tangerine colors blend strikingly but do not take away from the sensual garment.
Headwear was slim this last day of Couture Week but a bright spot showed up at Stephanie Coudert. This futuristic hat is superb.
This outfit from head to toe is perfection. It is modern pant look that is retro yet so futuristic. The hat reminds me of the 1960s a bit. It is an exciting new hat design. Love it! And the mustard yellow with black spot on! Somehow it reminds of Paloma Picasso.
Well the fun is over but the clothes have just begun their retinue in the fashion foray. It will be interesting to see how influential they will be on the ready to wear world. Big round of applause for this Couture Week! You are back at the head of the fashion world as God intended. Keep it going. More hats please!
Cheers & Ciao!
