Milan has finally found it's way back from the depths of no mans land of fashion. They are finally finding a look that is Italian and modern. Italians have a way to turn even the most hipster funky into sexy silhouettes. These designers took a strong color palette and combined it with funky elements to create a devastatingly new look.
Fendi always sends out such a strong show. Karl somehow bridges the gap of French chic into Italian Viva. I love the navy blue and dark green olive combo. The heart neckline top with a full elbow length sleeve is stunning. The t length skirt with high waist is killer with the black lace up detail on front. The small green leather bag with lacing detail around edge and red python print strap and green cream top handle is so fine!!! Even the wide wedge platform sandals work. The sunglasses help bring out the steampunk vibe.Gucci how I love Alessandro Michele's vision. I love each and every piece and look that went down the runway. I want to wear it all. The way he creates a very underground look and brings it to the fore front is astounding. He really seems to be on the cusp of the fashion forward movement. This look of sparkling fabrics in retro frocks is oh so yummy. He somehow knows how to take a vintage design and be inspired by it and not interpret it. The easy casual feel makes it uber modern. The sheer blouse in floral brings out a more womanly element. The glitter oversized glasses in a more square shape are super it. The black leather T-strap maryjanes with floral detail sparkle on toe area finish off the look.
Prada brought out the menswear influence for womenswear. Love the skirt suit look. The bold stripes in black, burnt orange and cream give it a sense of sophisticated whimsy. The layering of the yellow gray sweater and floral blouse somehow seem just right. The use of silk veiling as a high collar is brilliant. The retro funky sunglasses are just the right effect for this look. The amazing shoes of red/white squares with sparkle in an open toe t - strap sandal are just off so that it works.
Pucci and Gucci seem to be on a similar wave length. I am always a big fan of taking a shimmering element and pairing it with a more matte casual piece. Love the yellow cream ribbed sweater with long sleeves in a slim fit; the sheer criss cross trim on front is lovely addition. It juxtaposes well with the silver shimmer pleated asymmetrical skirt. Funky small handbags are back. This blue leather bird print and large plum chain length top handle bag is a great contrast. The feather shoes add the funky element to bring out a more cheeky sexy side.
You go on Italy with yourself. I am on board with your vibe.
Ciao!
