I was taken by a very nice surprise today with these looks. There has been so much very High Fashion formal wear for NYFW SS16 that these fresh and almost exotic looks are needed and welcome. Rich color that is not necessarily spring summer but seem very appropriate for the times. A new type of modern bohemian woman and style is evolving.
Anna Sui who has always been a leader in the bohemian design element. She really is the one who brought it back in the 1990s. She has always been one of my absolute fave designers in modern times. She always knows how to pick rich ethnic prints and colors for a very forward wearable look. Here a bit of tropical retro with a fantastic zip front country pink ladies. I am over the moon for the fancy floral socks with floral platforms. This look reminds me a bit of Betty Grable which is a great example of a woman who is sexy in a playful flirty womanly way.
Veronica Beard is quickly becoming a fantastic designer. This look is a great break from all the demi couture looks. A bit of 1940s & 1990s come out in this look. A kick pleat A line skirt is fresh in a mid calf length. The tangerine top with a on shoulder strap is again a bit retro but modern. The look is extremely modern and sportswear oriented.
JCrew Fantastic sportswear line. Great cotton looks in pants that match the top. A bit of Claire McCardell. The blue plaid fabric is a perfect summer color in an off the shoulder look.
Coach presented a collection that blew me away. A bit country, rockabilly, prairie, and a modern American sportswear line that is phenomenal. This type of look is youthful but has an edge that only a real woman could carry off. Zip front jackets with trouser skirts right on! Love the rich brown and southwest colors.
Suno presents wonderful ready to wear collection. This beautiful rich bright dark navy dress with silk embroidered brown flowers is sensational. The wide sleeves that extend below the elbow create a new look. The above the ankle length is a nice change for a slim but not fitted dress.
Sophie Theallet always brings a bit of Parisian chic to her lines. A bit of 1940s retro again surfaces. Beautiful blue cream abstract print dress with a brilliant tan wide belt waist treatment. The button up shirt with a bit of Victorian ruffle flair on bodice with a open wrap front skirt. Absolutely beautiful!
