Classic with a Twist for AW15
I love Haute Couture and how the looks are more about fantasy come to life. This summer in Paris, the Courtiers showed their lines for AW2015. Black and white in plays of texture and color came into focus. These picks are strong but yet playful. Notice that Alexis Mabille used the legendary Film Actress Leslie Caron from such films as "An American in Paris" with Gene Kelly. These full pants are oh so retro and the full beaded blouse is wonderful. Didit took a simple silhouette with geometric patterns and black cinched waist then created a look that speaks volumes to me and many modern women. Fendi used fur which I am not a fan of but I love the cocoon shape of the cape which is oh so Poiret. Jean Paul Gaultier is so cheeky with striped tights. I love the fairytale vibe of his ensemble but with a rocker style. The crown is a fun touch. What really caught my eye about these looks were their wearability and formality. In a jeans and t society, it's nice to see looks that allow women to be women and dress up. I love my jeans but I am a bit bored by them. I watch so many classic films from the 1930s and I love how beautiful women looked day to night. It is not just about glamour but a way of being attractive no matter where or when you step out. Even when these women are at home they dress up -- How Marvelous!
So this Fall I want to take a more dressy approach to the way I dress. However, I want it to be a more mature approach. But that does not mean forgo being fun, sexy, edgy or feminine - quite the contrary. When we become women, it is time to be beautiful and have fun with our looks. So buckle up ladies it is going to be a fun season.
