The Elle of Elegance at PFW SS 2016
Chanel often spoke of Elegance when it came to dressing. The French seem to have invented the word as in reference to fashion. Most women think of elegance as a very formal ball gown but really elegance is a beautiful design that reflects a woman's sense of style in a relaxed glamorous way. It's never an overt sexiness but a confidence in how you carry a style off. These designers bring a Spring Summer Elegance to ready to wear at Paris Fashion Week.
Leonard is a fashion house that has it's roots in color and strong floral prints. For this collection they presented a fresh new look that is interesting and fashionable which does not always work out but their designer pulled it off. This tomato red jacket with an almost patchwork detail on collar, shoulder and sleeves with a self matching belt is marvelous. Combined in a new way with a burnt orange copper check sheer skirt. The abstract open front skirt overlay is so quirky but somehow adds to elegant factor.
Chanel was a menagerie of looks. However, the pants for me stole the show. Especially the wide leg pants. This hounds tooth print is made fresh and new with the black stripes throughout. I loved that the 3/4 length sleeve crop jacket was the same matching material which is true Coco Chanel style. The beautiful white blouse with the sheer black and white chevron ruffle detail on the blouse front and sleeves really adds a supreme elegance to this look. Love the silver headband. And oh the white clear silver trim open toed bootie chunky heel shoe is iconic in a modern way.
Celine has definitely benefited from the designs of Pheobe Philo. Plaid is made sensual in this large gray with light chartreuse print pant suit. Again wide leg pants but these are a straight cut with crease but yet still retail that relaxed elegant style. The jacket with the matching fabric utilizes an off the shoulder line with a double breasted front to continue the casual vibe. The cuff kick pleat style detail on the sleeve add a cheeky twist. The silk camisole type top in black brought the look together for a soft but strong silhouette.
Martin Grant sent out a collection for a woman who is not afraid of being a mature sexy female. Again a wide pant with an almost 1940s style in a creamy linen. The navy sheer blouse with no collar and tapped button sleeves gives it such a rich easiness. Very pretty indeed.
Shiatzy Chen know how to combine color with dark backgrounds. The sapphire blue in a simmering print fabric is AWESOME on the elbow length sleeve zip front jacket. The black negligee type slip dress ala 1990s modern over the stovepipe pant in the same fabric as the jacket is phenomenal. The light blue satin beaded open toe heels contrast in fun way.
Vanessa Seward is quickly becoming a fav of mine for PFW. She knows the ABC's dressing women. She took a ready to wear look and turned it into high elegance in a top and long skirt. The western influence shows in the suede fabric for the skirt and the slim leather belt. The top print is a uptown bohemian that adds a nice softness to the suede in the skirt. Love the brown colors and how the gray blue stands out in the top.
St. Laurent rocks the runway with a grunge 2015 look. The blue heather gray mohair sweater is divine with the tiger print slit front skirt. The studded biker boots are fun. Tiara yes!
